Dear friends,

We are happy to invite you to another session “Kentaro Matsubara on the rule of law in China” of our New York Korea Japan dinner program. We will meet on Monday 16 April 2012 at 8pm in New York City. Should you be interested in attending please let us know at icas@tuj.temple.edu and we will send you more details on the location.

Kentaro Matsubara will be talking about the Rule of Law in contemporary China, relating it more specifically with his current project of understanding the legal problems faced by Japanese investors in China by placing them in the context of larger issues of social structuring and governmental organisation. In this context he will be treating such problems as: the differing attitudes toward the Rule of Law held by various parties in the socio-political divide; particularities of the Chinese modes of social organisation in relation to law, government and foreign investment; and possible historical explanations of such particularities.
