Jun Okumura entered the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI, then MITI) upon graduation from the Faculty of Law of the University of Tokyo. During his career at the ministry, he was stationed in Brazil, headed the JETRO office in New York City, and obtained an LLM at Harvard Law School. He is now visiting researcher at the Meiji Institute for Global Affairs (MIGA), special advisor to the National Students Information Center (NISA), and counselor at a risk analysis firm.
